Young John Waldenthrottle & the Service Station Attendant

John Waldenthrottle rode his ten-speed J.C. Higgins Special up to the service station attendant who was busy pumping regular gasoline into a super-charged hemi, 998 cubic inched, 1800 horse-powered, 95 exhaust piped, DATSUN pickup truck & asked for a can of transmission fluid; "Gimmie a can of transmission fluid," says he.

The service station attendant returns the hose to the proper location on the side of the pump & inquires as to what the young man on the J.C. Higgins Special had just requested; "May I inquire, young man on the J.C. Higgins Special, further into what you have just requested?" says he.

To which the young man (John Waldenthrottle - remember? On the ten-speed J.C. Higgins Special?) attaches a vocal negative; "Negative," says he.

Well, the service station attendant quickly kicks the supercharged hemi, 998 cubic inched, 1800 horse-powered, 95 exhaust piped, DATSUN pickup truck out of the drive for fear of making his station appear to be a hangout for hot rodders, & again turns to the young man on the ten-speed J.C. Higgins Special & says, "To the best of my knowledge, I distinctly remember young-yourself asking for a can of transmission fluid. Am I correct?" says he.

"Yes," replies Young John Waldenthrottle, "You are correct."
